Do you use grow room glasses? You only get one pair of eyes. This review will compare AC Infinity vs Method 7 grow light glasses.
While Method Seven is a well known brand I have found them to be over priced. AC Infinity is less well known but I think they provide much more bang for the buck and because they come with interchangeable lenses they work with all grow lights.
Method 7 glasses are considerably more expensive than AC Infinity’s grow glasses I think because they are a name brand they charge you more. You need a different pair for HPS or LED. But the AC Infinity glasses have changeable lenses for white LEDs, Blurple LEDs and HPS lights. At 1/3 the cost of the Method 7 glasses they are an infinitely better deal.
Here is a video review of my AC Infinity grow room glasses. I must say they are very comfortable to wear and work very well.
USE GROW ROOM GLASSES AND SAVE YOUR EYES
Today’s lighting is brighter than ever. Whether you are using double ended HPS or white LED lights or even old school blurple ones they are bright enough to damage your eyes. Sunglasses are a poor alternative for grow light glasses because they are too dark to let you see your plants clearly.
Worse yet the damage is not always immediately noticeable and it is cumulative. You would not stare directly at the sun and if you did it could cause permanent eye damage. Grow lights are much closer to your eyes and their output can be greater than the sun at the equator so you need to protect yourself.
The answer is to wear grow room glasses when you tend to your plants. If you wear glasses Method 7 makes clip on glasses at about $50 a pop. Otherwise I think AC Infinity’s glasses are a much better deal at about $20. There are even cheaper ones than that available but I think they are lower quality and will not last
Not that long ago I added a HLG 650R to my grow closet and boy is it bright when compared to my older HLG 550. I found that I really needed grow room glasses. I have written a review of the 650R if you are thinking about a lighting update check it out.
Now HLG has introduced the Scorpion Diablo and by all accounts it is even brighter. Even if the wattage remains the same the diodes keep getting more efficient. So does the damage they can do to your eyes.
